What on earth is Kompakti?
Kompakti is a new festival in Tampere. The festival’s name comes from the fact that the program consists of short performances. It highlights works-in-progress in performing arts and the creative processes behind them. Performances are usually no longer than half an hour, but they can also be just a few minutes! The festival brings together different art fields and forms and serves as a meeting place within the performing arts scene.
The concept of the festival traces its roots to the Kellariteatteri in Helsinki, where a short performance festival called Action was first organized as early as 2011.
So what kind of things are performed there? Anything at all!
Old diary entries from primary school? Yes!
Manifestos about the state of the world? Of course!
A deep analysis of someone’s primary school drawing? Absolutely!
Art is a process – and that process is sometimes just as interesting as the end result. Come and see dozens of short performances on the most unexpected topics.
